Honda Sensing technologies are designed to help you drive safer. All of these systems use sensors, whether it’s Forward Collision Mitigation Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Keeping Assist, or Adaptive Cruise Control.

In order for these safety and driver-assistive technologies to function at their best, it’s crucial that you keep your vehicle’s sensors in good condition. Weather conditions such as snow and ice as well as winding roads can impact the state of your sensors.

Find out how to maintain the sensors of your Honda Sensing Suite in perfect condition.

Camera

Your Honda vehicle is equipped with a forward-facing monocular camera near the interior rearview mirror in the cockpit. Check that the part of the windshield in front of the camera is unobstructed.

Radar

With this external sensor, your vehicle can detect obstacles in front of you on the road. Check that it’s not obstructed by snow, salt, or any other matter. You’ll find the radar in different places depending on the model you have.

It can be found behind the emblem at the front of the vehicle in the following models: Fit, Clarity, Odyssey, Passport, Pilot, and Ridgeline. Other models also have this sensor but are located elsewhere.

Here are some examples:

  • Civic: At the bottom of the bumper, on the driver’s side near the corner
  • Insight: At the bottom of the bumper, on the driver’s side
  • Accord: At the bottom of the bumper in the centre
  • HR-V: Integrated into the front fascia, on the passenger’s side
  • CR-V: Underneath the emblem at the front

To find the radar on your vehicle, consult the owner’s manual for your model.

Warning: “Some Assistive Systems Disabled”

You will be notified via the information interface if Honda Sensing technologies are temporarily disabled. It is often a result of a sensor being obstructed by snow, frost, salt, or other matter. As a precaution, we suggest that you clean these sensors so that the Suite continues to work perfectly.

Cleaning of Sensors

To clean the camera or radar of the Honda Sensing Suite, use a soft cloth. Cleaning the windshield area in front of the camera and the radar surface will help keep these sensors in good working order.

Persistent Warnings

The sensors, even after cleaning, can also be turned off for safety reasons if you drive in heavy snow or mist. They will work again as soon as conditions improve.
